We are looking for Software Engineer to our R&D and Product Management group.

Location: Kuopio, Finland

Purpose of the Position

As a Software Engineer at Junttan, you will be an integral member of an agile, high‑performing team responsible for developing, testing, documenting, deploying, and maintaining software for our advanced machine control systems. A central part of this role is working with mobile hydraulic systems, ensuring that control logic, sensor feedback, and machine automation features integrate seamlessly with hydraulic actuation.

About the Role

In this position, you will contribute to the full software development lifecycle of machine control and automation solutions used in Junttan piling equipment. You will work closely with engineers and subcontractors to bring high‑quality features from concept to deployment. A significant part of the role involves understanding and optimizing hydraulic system behavior within real‑time control environments.

Main Duties

  • Develop, test, and maintain software for machine control systems, embedded solutions, and related user interfaces.

  • Contribute to real‑time automation and control features, with a strong focus on mobile hydraulic functionality and performance.

  • Support sales, manufacturing, supply, and service teams with technical expertise.

Required Skills & Qualifications

  • Experience designing CAN bus–based machine control systems and a solid understanding of mobile hydraulics.

  • Proficiency in Rust, IEC 61131‑3/CodeSys, C, or C++.

  • Experience developing modern machine automation functions.

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.

  • Fluency in English and Finnish, and readiness to travel.

Preferred / Bonus Skills

  • Knowledge of networking protocols: CANOpen, TCP/IP, MQTT.

  • Experience with automated testing frameworks and CI/CD pipelines.

  • Experience with browser‑based UI development: TypeScript, React.

  • Understanding of asynchronous programming and database technologies.

  • Familiarity with simulation environments: Mevea, Matlab/Simulink.

  • Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
